Another day, another blog post around the JACU (aka Jane Austen Cinematic Universe). Well, this time it is not really cinema-related, but I had to insert that reference here, it’s the Marvel enthusiast in me! Today I have Instagram accounts for you to follow if you want to add some nice wholesome Jane Austen content in your daily feed. I promise they will instantly lighten it up.
These accounts are held by extremely funny Janeites and I find myself going on my Instagram feed mostly to watch their hilarious and informative posts and stories! The Janeites behind these accounts are incredibly knowledgeable and have an interesting point of view regarding Jane Austen characters, books and movie adaptations. I also love to go through their feeds to get insightful information on the Georgian and Regency eras in which Ms Austen lived.
So I highly recommend to give them a follow, you won’t regret it. Plus, I would never say no to a Captain Wentworth, a Mr Darcy or a Henry Tilney gracing my feed, would you?

Bonjoooour Colin Firth!
This list isn’t in particular order, however I had to put The Thing About Austen first because it is by far my very favourite Instagram account to follow. I just love how they really get into Jane Austen’s world. Also, it’s mostly through this account that I came across the following Instagram accounts, for they always give shoutouts to fellow Janeites accounts. We love a supporting group! Also they have an amazing podcast which you should definitely listen (my favourites are the ones focused on Persuasion, no surprise here).
Both fun and informative, Carolyne is a Jane Austen Bookstagrammer (I just love this title!) with a very creative take on Jane Austen’s world. For instance, she has a calendar with the events that happened on Jane Austen’s life or in her stories and from time to time you can have a post with what happened today in Austen’s time. That’s how I know that around my birthday Anne Elliot joined her family in Bath. Now I celebrate my birthday with a deep thought for Anne being blindsided by Mr Elliot (boo tomato tomato!)
What I also like about her account is the fact that she writes both in English and French, which I think is a great way to learn one language or the other. I don’t really think there’s a better way to learn English than by reading Jane Austen-related content!
April Karber is an absolute Queen at memes around pop culture and Jane Austen characters and movies. Her posts never miss to make me laugh. Here is an example:
The Insta bio says it all: « Humour, period dramas, and bookish nonsense ». Quite honestly, I am always here for some humour around Jane Austen characters. After all, she herself was the Queen of sharp humour and social satire as well.
Follow the posts for some great memes and laughs around Austen, and follow the stories for the therapy part which deals with mental health and current events. Who said an Instagram account couldn’t do both? They have a podcast as well.
Last but not least another meme account with analogies with beloved TV shows and references of that exemplary vegetable that Mr Collins love. What more could we need from an Instagram account right?
Special mention to SPARKNOTES which is not solely focused on Jane Austen but the analogies between some JACU characters and modern TV are always hilarious. Also in general it is a really funny account, old sport!
That’s it for today’s post, happy Sunday!
