Celebrating the little and bigger things of the week

Happy August, or as I like to call it, happy Month of Me! Yes it is my birthday month, and I am so excited to be able to get another year on, to celebrate life, to grow up, grow older and (hopefully) wiser. As the first week of the month comes to an end, I thought I’d list the things that have been good to me so far. I encourage you to do so too!

POSTING 3 BLOG POSTS

I’m back on my posting schedule! Well I don’t have a schedule per se but this week and more broadly this month, I want to be more consistent in here, hopefully posting every two days. We’ll see how it evolves as the months go by, but I want to challenge myself this month and start from here. Especially since I have so many drafts of blog post ideas! Time to bring them to life right?

GETTING A LIBRARY CARD

Why didn’t I think of this sooner? I’ve been living in a new city for more than a year now, and only a few days ago did I think of getting a library card. Last time I had one I think I was still in middle school and now I’m so used to buying them. Getting a library card is a great way to read more and to save money! I got The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks (I’ve never read his books, so thought I’d try to see his writing style) and Park Avenue Summer by Renée Rosen. Books I would never have thought of getting if not for browsing the library! This will also help me reach my Goodreads reading goal faster!

HAVING MOVIE NIGHTS

I’m happy to say that I’ve finally watched Disenchanted & Top Gun: Maverick! My friend and I have this list of movies to watch, some that are ‘iconic’ ones and some more recent, and we were very behind schedule but it seems that we’re finally back on the swing of things! We finished Top Gun: Maverick yesterday after watching Top Gun at the end of last year, and although Goose is deeply missed, I think I prefer the latest one! It had more action than the first one, although some parts were unnecessary in my opinion (ahem that Penny arc). As for Disenchanted, I don’t know… I mean I had a nice time and it was so nice to see the characters again (especially Nancy and Prince Edward!), but I thought that the storyline was a bit all over the place.

CELEBRATING EVERYDAY LIKE IT’S MY BIRTHDAY

Treat yo self mode activated from the 1st to the 31st of August! I decided to do little things for me throughout the month to celebrate my upcoming birthday in style. From buying a new book to making pancakes with lots of maple syrup, it’s all about being kind to myself and make August feel like an actual birth month. Sometimes you don’t need much or someone else but yourself to feel celebrated. I hope to take this mindset all through August and beyond too!

What about you? Which things are you grateful for, happy about or have sparked your interest this week? Let me know below!
