The only pieces I’ll buy this Autumn

Spoiler alert: they’re all black!

Autumn is finally here and I’m so glad to have my favourite season back! I really like autumn, especially when it comes to fashion. I love layering, wearing my favourite coats and cosy movie nights in my favourite pyjamas.
There is also this sense of renewal that comes from back to work/school season, and from Fashion Week too. It’s when we put away our summer clothes, do a little reset and check-in with our objectives and goals as we tackle the last months of the year.

For this season, I want to take this autumn reset very seriously, especially in the fashion department. The main goal for the months ahead is to get my fashion staples on point for Autumn-Winter. I’ve bought very little fashion articles this month, and I want to spend my money very wisely, prioritizing efficiency and versatility. This for me comes from having the right staples in my closet, like a capsule wardrobe of essentials to wear timelessly. I thought I’d share the ones that I’ll definitely be on the look out for this season.

BLACK COAT

This is I think the absolute must-have of every wardrobe and I’m guilty of not having found the perfect one just yet. So that is my most important fashion quest this season. I want to find the perfect oversized long coat that will bring the perfect final touch to all my layered outfits. Still debating on the kind of one to get: with or without structured shoulders, with or without buttons? Which one is your go-to coat for autumn?

LOAFERS

I desperately want to hop on the loafers & socks shoe game à la MJ, but I still haven’t found the perfect pair. Last month I thought I had found the perfect ones from ASOS, but unfortunately the shoes did not fit – literally. I was so gutted because they really had it all: one pair was your classic go-to loafers and the other pair had a cute gold detail (the first two ones below). However I had to send them back because they were a tad too big, and unfortunately the size I want is out of stock. Me and my weird feet. So the search continues!

I think I’ll get just one pair though, but am still debating on the kind of loafers to get. With or without the keychain accessories? If with an accessory gold or silver? What are your thoughts?

TRENCH COAT

Do you sometimes wonder how come you have a certain fashion item in every colour but the basic ones? That’s me when I realised that I still don’t own a black trench coat (same with a black button-up shirt but I have one now). I have had my khaki one for years now and it’s time for an update I think, at least to refresh my wardrobe and my style as well. I’m sure that it will be my favourite piece to wear for autumn or to layer in winter as well. Now I just have to find the perfect one. Any recommendations on where to get the perfect one for a reasonable price?

BLAZER

In summer I have my button-up shirt collection and in the colder months my blazer collection is the main star. I have a camel one, a lilac one, a blue one, a red, a yellow, an orange one even… But no black blazer in sight! This must be remedied this season, because it is, to me, an absolute staple. Dress it up, dress it down, wear it with a blouse of layer it underneath a coat, it does so much to an outfit that I know I’m missing something by not having one… yet. Ideally I’d like to get one that stands out a bit more: double breasted, structured shoulders and with gold buttons to have that Balmain army feel, without breaking the bank so much aha.

ACCESSORIES

Now for accessories, there are two that I definitely want to get a hold of to finish up my outfits in great style, and bear the colder months ahead.

Scarf: the must-have for the colder seasons. I’m looking for a nice one in a simple colour (black or brown) that will suit my skin tone and go with everything I wear. I have a plaid burgundy one that I’ve had it for sooo many years, and looking back at some old pictures I realised that it tends to overwhelm my outfits, so it is definitely time for a change.

Headband : Always. I’m especially looking to expand my collection with a black embellished one. The inspiration behind the kind of headband to get: Blair Waldorf and Jennifer Behr of course!

That’s all for me, let me know what’s on your autumn wishlist in the comments! I’d love to know!
