Celebrating the little and bigger things of the week
As November comes to an end in a few days and with it the last few weeks of Autumn, I thought I’d dedicate a blog post to celebrate the highlights of this week. Little things that brought newness, joy or just some nice wholesome vibes. I definitely encourage you to do some reflecting as well! Let me know what highlighted your week in the comments!
RECEIVING LETTERS FROM FRIENDS
Last year, I started writing letters to my friends, inspired by Jane Austen’s work of course and one of my favourite book series – The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I have always loved writing and although we have text messages, Instagram &c. to keep in touch at all times, I think that letters bring something else. It shows that you took the time to write intently, you have more room to elaborate on the subjects you’re writing about… Also, I have always wanted to receive letters from friends, but to receive one you have to send one, so I bought letter papers, blue envelopes and got to writing. Coming back from work with two letters in my letterbox surely dimmed the Monday dread!
GETTING A DVD PLAYER
The letters bring me to my next highlight of the week! One of my friends inserted a gift card in her letter as a birthday gift and after much thinking (when the options are endless, I’m not the best at decision making!) I decided on getting a DVD player. I mainly bought it after remembering what I was telling you in my latest blog post on the things I’d buy if I had the money. And I don’t regret my choice one bit!
It came just in time for a rewatch of some of my favourite Gossip Girl episodes: the pilot and the Thanksgiving episode from season one (a classic!). I’ve only had it for a few days but this Sony DVD player is now one of my favourite features in my flat and I can’t wait to expand my DVD collection! I think Pride & Prejudice 2005 might be next. I’ll have to browse local shops in town to try and find DVDs for cheaper.

CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY
Yesterday, I did a little one-day trip to Paris to visit my sisters and celebrate my niece’s birthday. It was a 3h train ride back and forth but it was worth it. Anything for the family, right? Being a celebratory event, I obviously brought my Canon camera with me to take pictures and experiment more with the manual mode. I think I’m getting the hang of it, but I still have so learning to do to be confident with taking pictures in different lightings and of subjects in movement. As we know, kids are never quite still haha!

GOING ON A SKIN JOURNEY
In my letterbox also came some much needed skincare bits! My face has been acting very strangely these past few months and I think a skincare routine is very much required and long overdue. I did some Googling and browsing on YouTube and decided on a few essentials to hydrate my skin and tackle the spots that are a little too friendly with my face for my taste. Hello Hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and glycolic acid! However, I know that products are not the be-all and end-all to a healthy skin, so I’m also starting to make sure I reduce my sugar intakes, increase my consumption of fruits and veggies and work out too.

Don’t forget to take some time to reflect on the positives of this week! I hope the week ahead will bring you ever more positive vibes! Happy Sunday!
