The (very) late summer highlights recap
Summer 2024 may be over, but it doesn’t mean we can’t take a look back at it today, right? This comes quite late, since I have been quite M.I.A. on the blogsphere lately, but I thought I’d come back from my blogging holidays with a little round-up of the highlights of the month on August (aka the Month of Me, as I like to call it).
A weekend trip by the sea, a British holiday, a birthday and a lot of fun times with family and friends, I’m happy to report that the Month of Me was very nice! A success and a well-needed (and dare I say, well-deserved!) break from the 9 to 5 life.
Weekend in the South of France
After being in Grau-du-Roi at the beginning of the year for an Autumn-Winter campaign photoshoot, I came back in August, this time with friends for a nice weekend getaway. I was able to see the city both during off and on seasons, which was very interesting! The first time I explored the city without the bustle of tourists and the second time I enjoyed walks by the warm beach and swam too (I could not tell you when was the last time I had taken a proper swim – I was a bit surprised to realise that I still knew how to!).

This weekend was a much needed break from 6+ months of non-stop work between photoshoots and deskdays. Also, it was a perfect friends reunion, which finally made it out of the group chat!
Mexican-themed birthday celebration (aka Mexicanissa)
Every August, I like to invite my family around my birth date and celebrate with them the end of an age and the beginning of another. Usually I decide on a theme, mostly to help me choose the appropriate decor and the food to prepare, but also because it’s always fun to dress up for a special occasion! Since starting this tradition, I’ve done a British regency theme, a USA theme, now México, so I guess now I’ll continue with the world tour next time as well! It was the perfect family reunion, just before heading off to my next summer destination.

British summer
This is no doubt my biggest highlight of the month: spending my birthday in the UK, one of my favourite places to visit! I spent 10 days there with a friend and it was an absolute blast from beginning to end (minus the little bike accident I had on my way to the train station to go to Paris and catch the Eurostar, but let’s not get into that).

As always, I wish I had stayed longer, but those 10 days were very well spent, between day trips to Brighton, Camden, London AND Bath on my actual birthdate, surrounded by all things Jane Austen! I also saw my very first musicals, starting with Mamma Mia! of course, I saw Wicked as well and the play Agatha Christie Witness for the Prosecution which you definitely haaaave to see!

I also took in some fashion and photography inspirations at the National Portrait Gallery and indulged in lots of good food as well, from the likes of my favourites food chains aka Prêt, Caffè Nero, Blank Street, Joe & the Juice and good old Sainsbury’s – I’m a simple girl haha)

And you, how was your summer 2024? What are some of your favourite highlights from 2024?
xoxo, Anissa
